I felt similarly after watching a few episodes, but my wife wanted to keep watching. I found the second season to be much better — the characters lose their initial one-dimensionality needed to establish the premise. The third season is absolutely amazing, imo the best show on TV (along with Ripley). Watching the characters confront that root unhappiness through each other is joyous and moving.
