I would be OK with either DST or Standard just staying permanent, it's the shifts that leave me exhausted and unable to get good sleep for at least a week each time. I don't have to rehash all the stats listing the adverse effects and also the Nazi-related history of the practice. But you sold me on picking DST as the option to keep permanent, it seems like the more balanced way to keep sunrise and sunset times reasonable during the year, so that was my vote.

Thank you for reposting the old column on Mary Morello! She sounds like a gem of a woman and a great mom. I wish more people of older generations had her attitude toward music and culture of the younger ones, instead of the tiresome complaints of "young people these days" and "there's no good new music being made anymore".

No to permanent DST. I predict we will all HATE dark mornings in the winter, and having experienced standard time in the winter of 1974 (energy crisis), walking to the bus stop in the dark was very, very creepy. And I was a senior in high school! I bet parents wold be driving kids to bus stops and sitting in their idling cars waiting for the bus (safety reasons), which would counter any energy savings.
