I tend to go right to the bottom of op-ed pieces to see the credentialed info on who the author is before I read it (when I did this the other day with the aforementioned column and saw that it was authored by an 8th grader, I declined reading it). But this practice, of course, is allowing oneself to be lead by confirmation bias.
