The original tweeter believes that eggs should be removed from the end of the egg carton, not the middle. She lives with someone who removes eggs from the middle of the carton, not the end. It's a bit of a stretch, IMO.
Some people in my household advocate alternating the ends the eggs are removed from so the carton always stays relatively balanced. An unbalanced carton is more likely to accidentally come open and allow a couple of eggs to fall out.
The egg tweet is good, at least my interpretation of it is. Have you ever misheard or misunderstood something as a good joke? Or had someone mishear you and laugh?
If the egg carton tweet relates to the debate on how one removes eggs from the egg carton (from the ends or in the middle), I'm firmly in the camp of removing them so that, overall, the carton stays balanced. Whether that's removing one egg from the left end, then one from the right, etc., or removing them from the middle outwards, it matters not to me. But (IMHO) you don't want to have a severely unbalanced egg carton with all of the eggs removed from one side. This makes me a "monster" to the tweeter, I guess.
I think this debate is too obscure for most of your readers to get this visual tweet.
The egg tweet is beyond me at this point, but I'll give it some time. Not being a parent, it took me awhile to comprehend the "buttered noodles and nuggets" tweet that Mr. Zorn thought was the best of the best.
Regarding soccer, it seems to me that if MLS could pay comparably to what the NFL pays, then it would attract to top athletes. But the only way that could happen is with a rich TV contract that would require extensive time-outs for commercials to pay for the contract.
I was hoping you would include your interview with Marilyn Lemak. I see it ran in the Daily Herald, but I don’t have a subscription.
It’s here — https://ericzorn.substack.com/p/a-conversation-with-marilyn-lemak
I don't get the egg tweet.
I think Eric opted wisely. On balance, it would have been more obvious had 3 or 4 eggs been similarly removed.
I love the "on balance". Kudos!
Meanwhile, I still don't get it.
Likewise.

If that's the case, then Eric made the correct decision.
If that is the explanation, ha.

I really laughed at all of the visual tweets this week. Hard to pick a winner, but I was with the majority of your dark humor followers.

um---because a monster took out eggs in middle leaving the carton balanced?
how is that funny?
I hate what has happened to college football.
College sports are divided into revenue (important)
and nonrevenue (not important) sports.
I live in Iowa City, Iowa. The smallest town in the big 10
(or is it the big 18 now?)
People plan their lives around five days a year when there is a home game.
Of course, gambling (I'm sorry, Gaming) is sure to make things better.

I think you were wise not to include the eggs’ visual.
The eggs were from Amazon---the big monster that is everywhere.
