I have Trump Derangement Syndrome--I am convinced trump is deranged.

I have to agree with you and Chuck Schumer that as bad as the funding bill is a government shutdown would have been far worse. It would play right into Trump's hand, allowing him to take even more complete control of the country since in a shutdown he would be the sole determinant of what is considered "essential" an continues to be funded. We can be sure he would be even more draconian than the bill. Also, he and Republicans would not be in the least interested in ending the shutdown and the negotiations for that would drag out and likely cost even more government service, jobs, and protections.

I don't accept the "the worse the better" argument, saying it would speed a revolt against the GOP, because it would mean so much more suffering by the people who have no impact on the process and the revolt would not at all be guaranteed. For that side cruelty is the point and "the worse" really is "the better".
