Best line from today: ... " its advocates have a tendency to be insufferable, obtuse, prickly and overly censorious to the point of punitive."

I know that many object to the term “Trump derangement syndrome”, but I think that there is something to it when exemplified by the media’s tendency to go into meltdown mode over Trump’s more frivolous escapades (for example, the McDonald’s stunt and the Arnold Palmer rhapsody) when there is seldom any dearth of truly ominous things about him to report on.

This point was highlighted last night by Jon Stewart when he showed a slew of clips that demonstrated how readily the media pounce on something like the Palmer quip, or Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin going berserk over McDonaldsgate, when there would seem to be more pressing matters that might warrant attention. Like, you know, announcing that he will refuse to accept the election results unless he wins, plans to use the justice system and the military to go after “enemies from within”, and identifies sitting members of Congress as being on his hit list. That sort of thing.
